I was reading an article by Tim Layden in Sports Illustrated recently. In it he stated that one of the top stories in sports this year belonged to a horse who everybody wanted to love. What a “good time” story for horse racing in the United States and for the people who enjoy watching it.In this story we had a Triple Crown winner and a horse who won his Breeder’s Cup Classic by 6 1/2 lengths–all in one season. Even though American Pharoah will probably end his racing career shortly and be placed in stud, he will be long remembered as an American hero. Isn’t it nice to read about an athlete who didn’t use tricks or drugs or any other artificial help to win. He just ran!Congratulations to Bob Baffert in drawing America together with a beautiful race horse!
