WHITTIER – A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Rose Hills Memorial Park Hillside Chapel for Margaret O. Hughes, a teacher who received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Whittier College. She died Monday in Solvang, her home for the past seven years. She was 88. Twenty-eight years of her life were dedicated to teaching and administrative positions with the Montebello and Alhambra unified school districts. In addition to her educational pursuits, she participated in P.E.O., Montebello Lions, the American Association of University Women, Retired Teachers Association and the Montebello Methodist Church. Preceding her in death were her husband of 59 years, Richard Hughes; her second husband of two years, Robert Hunt, and her great grandson, Matthew. She is survived by two sons, Robert and William, five grandsons, and seven great grandchildren. Memorial donations in Hughes’ name can be made to Southern Lutheran Home in Solvang.
