Drivers in British Columbia’s Lower Mainland are feeling the effects of chronic fuel supply constraints as prices crest $1.50 a litre in some locations, hovering close to record highs. And at least one analyst believes they could climb further still.“It underscores the real big problem in southwestern British Columbia and that’s that they’re chronically short of gasoline and other fuels,” said GasBuddy senior petroleum analyst Dan McTeague, who believes prices will rise even higher. The current spike, in a season of generally lower demand, is caused in part by the outage of a Burnaby, B.C., refinery that Parkland Fuel bought from Chevron in November, he said. The 55,000 barrel-a-day refinery, which McTeague says supplies about a quarter of demand in the region, has been down for planned maintenance since early February and the company doesn’t expect to have it fully running again until the end of March.Still, the region faces longer-standing supply issues that could push prices in the higher-demand summer months to surpass the previous record of $1.56 in June 2014, said McTeague.Prices increases could also come as two of four refineries in Washington State are planning to go down for maintenance, while the lower Canadian dollar is adding to the costs of buying fuel from the U.S., McTeague said.High taxes are also compounding the problems, making up 49.3 cents out of the 150.9 cent price per litre seen Wednesday with another 1.2 cent per litre carbon tax coming in April, he said.“It’s not looking good for that region of the country,” he said.“There’s no spare supply out there, we could see $1.60 for a few days this summer in Vancouver.”While gas prices could see upward pressure across the country as oil prices maintain some gains, McTeague said the Lower Mainland issues are much worse. As Vancouver drivers were paying as much as $1.50 a litre Thursday, pump prices were about $1.09 in Calgary and around $1.24 in Toronto, according to data from Kent Group Ltd.

Ohio State cornerbacks Travis Howard and Bradley Roby aren’t shy about admitting their position coach, Kerry Coombs, is a bit of a trash talker. They said they’re the same way. “Me and Travis are already kind of like that,” said Roby, a rising redshirt sophomore. “He brings that same mentality, that hard-nose, trash-talking kind of play.” Roby said he likes it that way. “That’s how I am. I love that,” Roby said. “I’m right behind him doing the same thing.” Likewise, it seems Coombs’ fiery demeanor has also commanded Howard’s respect. But even more so, the rising redshirt senior said the guidance from the former Cincinnati assistant coach is what he and the rest of the corners need. “It’s definitely been a great change,” Howard said. “I mean, he’s a high intensity guy who’s willing to make sure we perfect our technique and make sure we work hard at whatever we do.” For Coombs, that feeling of admiration and respect is mutual. In addition to having what he called talented and gifted athletes, what has struck the 51-year-old the most is how diligently his players work. “They’re in my office poking their head in all the time,” he said. “They want to know what they can do to get better, they want to know where they fell short.” Coombs said it’s no secret that OSU has a “great history” of defensive secondary players. Outside the coaches’ offices, Coombs said there’s a wall commemorating eight first-round NFL Draft picks that the Buckeyes have produced throughout the years. Coombs said he thinks Roby will be the next to join the wall. “He’s big, and he’s fast, and he’s physical, and he’s intelligent and he’s got great change of direction,” Coombs said. “His transition is outstanding. And if Bradley’s not a first-round draft pick down the road, that would be a shame.” Roby, who recorded 47 tackles and three interceptions in 2011, said being one of the greatest corners to play at OSU has been his goal since arriving in Columbus. “I think about it everyday,” he said. “When I came up here, that was my goal. My goal hasn’t changed. I feel like I’m definitely on path for that.” And Coombs’ approach to the position, he said, will not only aid him in reaching that level, but will holistically benefit the team. Roby said compared to last season’s heavy emphasis on press coverage, Coombs has the cornerbacks playing further off the receivers than ever before. That, Roby said, allows he and the other corners the freedom and ability to be a “ball hawk” and create turnovers via interceptions. “I mean, that’s why I play football,” he said. “I just love to make plays.” Similarly, Howard said playing off is something he’s looking forward to. “I mean, I feel like we were a press team last year, we didn’t have enough opportunities to make plays on the ball so he came in with a new technique,” he said. “Now we’re getting a lot of chances making plays on the balls and getting good vision on the quarterback.” By playing off, Roby said he finds himself in a better position to make the play that every corner dreams of in Saturday’s Spring Game. “I’m trying to get at least one pick-six … it’s going to be there,” he said. “We’re going to have the pressure and they’re going to throw it up. I got to get a pick-six, I didn’t get one all last year, so I want a pick-six for sure.”
The British publication, FourFourTwo, have broadcasted the words of Spain national team head coach Luis Enrique concerning Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri.According to the former Barcelona manager, the 22-year-old hotshot has all characteristics to become a ‘new Sergio Busquets.’Although Rodri is yet to establish himself as a regular starter at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano following his summer’s arrival from Villarreal, Enrique seems to be a huge fan of the prosperous youngster.“I have already spoken about their similarities,” he told a news conference.“It’s not good to give too much praise and he is very young, but Rodri comes across as very professional and prepared mentally.“He can reach Busquets’ level and maybe surpass it. Who knows what limits he has?”Robert Moreno says he would step aside if Luis Enrique asks him Manuel R. Euron sucks. Not in a good, “Hi, I’m Joffrey the best villain in TV history kind of way.” In a bad, “my character is a bit weird and people don’t really like me” kind of way. In wrestling, they call this “X-Pac heat.”Anyway, Twitter got real upset about Rhaegon essentially getting murked by Euron’s fleet. Rightfully so in my humble opinion. With Rhaegal kicking the bucket and Jon Snow putting Ghost up for adoption, it was truly a difficult episode for the pets. Game of Thrones
Private equity firms Blackstone and Apollo Global Management have reportedly entered the fray to acquire Mphasis, following a renewed decision by Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HP) to sell 60.4 percent controlling stake in the subsidiary. With Tech Mahindra already in the race, the two firms will have to vye with the IT major in an estimated billion-dollar deal. These companies were selected from a group of global and domestic tech companies and PE funds, including TPG and Bain Capital, sources familiar with the matter told The Economic Times. However, there is “no certainty” that the talks, which are in early stages, would result in a deal, sources said.Citigroup has been roped in to oversee the sale process.Mphasis shares traded 3.7 percent higher at Rs 450 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Thursday. Currently, the firm has a market capitalisation of Rs 9,453 crore.HP’s renewed plans to sell Mphasis comes in the wake of the company’s focus on reviving its IT services, as clients move to cloud computing for the technology needs. HP had acquired Mphasis as part of its $14 billion buyout of EDS eight years ago.In September last year, HP had announced plans to cut nearly 28,000 to 33,000 jobs, mainly in its enterprise services group. Recently, the company was split into two — Hewlett Packard Enterprise and HP Inc.”The suggestion that Mphasis is up for sale points to two issues: First, the further unravelling of HP’s ill-fated acquisition history. Mphasis was never fully integrated nor were its capabilities fully leveraged. Second, the acceleration of consolidation. Virtusa just bought Polaris, who like Mphasis have a strong focus on the BFSI sector,” Tom Reuner, Managing Director at HfS Research told the daily. However, Tech Mahindra is currently not “pursuing” the deal even though it had weighed the prospects of acquiring Mphasis, senior Tech Mahindra sources said, according to ET.”As of now, Tech Mahindra has no interest in pursuing Mphasis,” said one of them.”Mphasis’ EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation) margins have also come down from 20 percent levels in 2012 to a range of 14-15 percent whereas it remains at 16-18 percent for many of its peers. The HP margins are also 2x that of the non-HP business,” said a source.”However, the BFSI (banking, financial services and insurance) and digital focus along with the scale of business that has been clocking around a billion dollars in revenues — a key threshold in the space — will give scope to turn around the operations,” the person added.Mphasis posted a net profit of Rs 675 crore and revenue of Rs 5,795 crore for the last fiscal year ending March 2015. Banking, capital markets and insurance verticals account for 55 percent of its revenues.
