There are trained councillors that will assist people and their families to come through their illness without the use of medication. Therapy is on a one-to-one basis and all services provided by Pieta House are completely free of charge for the patients. Pieta House has been operating for the past 8 years.“I believe that by raising awareness of Pieta House, people will be encouraged to talk to them and remove the stigma of mental health issues. If someone goes to a doctor with feelings of depression they may be offered medication or institutionalised. Often, if someone goes to a medical institution to deal with their mental health issues, there are feelings of embarrassment involved and they don’t want people to know they are there. In most cases, people will leave without completing their therapy.” said event organiser Donna Holmes to Donegal Daily. With Pieta House they remain in their own homes and go to therapy sessions at least twice a week with a qualified counsellor – family and friends can get involved with these sessions if a patient prefers.Tickets will be sold locally but people can pay at the door on the night. The event has been offered great prizes and sponsorship for advertising from loads of local companies and will be publicly naming all companies in the coming weeks to thank them for their support.Barn Dance in aid of Pieta House was last modified: August 11th, 2016 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:barn danceDrumkeenmental healthnew centrePIeta Houselast_img read more
